Metcalfe Hall from the Kolkata city is situated at the junction of Strand Road and Hare Street. It is the building once housed the Imperial Library and now shifted to Belvedere in Alipore. It is totally designed after the Portico of the Temple of Winds at Athens.

This building has an ornamental basement and tall columns, so resembles almost with a Greek temple. Metcalfe Hall was actually erected in order to commemorate 'Lord Metcalfe' as well as his great efforts towards emancipation of the press.
