Howrah Bridge or Rabindra Setu is one of the best landmarks in Kolkata city. The Howrah Bridge is on the Hoogly river and it is well known example of the modern engineering marvel from the city. It is a unique cantilevered bridge and it is made up of 2590 metric tones of high tensile steel.
It connects Kolkata main railway station with the proper Kolkata. It is opened in the year 1943. This is 71 feet wide bridge and it can provide accommodation for the eight lanes of traffic at a time. It has also 2 footpaths and confusing medley of vendors, handcrafts.
