It is the festival of Sarswati pooja and is the celebration in honour of Goddess Saraswati, as per hidu religion. She is the Goddess of wisdom and learning. In January on this day the musical instruments, books and other art related and educational things put infront of the Goddess hoping for the blessings.
In Bengal state of India the image of the Goddess are taken in procession and finally immersed in the river water after the main worship day. Where as on north side of India, this day is the arrival of the spring and so celebrated as spring festival. On this holey day many people dress in yellow as honor to the sun.
