Pushkar fair is a very famous fair all over the world. It brings out the bright and rich tradition of Rajasthan highlighting the glory of the soft golden sand of Rajasthan India. This fair is totally devoted to camels. This fair is held in Rajasthan near a small town called Pushkar. Hence this fair is called Pushkar camel fair. Pushkar is about 13 kilometers away from Ajmer. The way for Pushkar is little hilly and the road is winding. This fair is very close to the Pushkar Lake which is very famous in India.
There are thousands of people coming to this fair. So the heat of the crowd leaves the heat of the desert far behind as there is a lot of enjoyment and fun among the people. This fair is full of energetic colors that showcase the tradition and customs of India's culture. People of all ages can be seen in this fair breaking all the barriers of cast, color and creed that are manmade. The main aim of this fair is to bind all the nearby villages together with love and respect.
There are people coming from close-by areas who bring their camels for selling or for the race. Some come just to enjoy this festival. People gather in evening at the stadium, where they organize races between camels, cows and horses. The trading of the camels is the interesting and the main part of the fair.
There are stalls of different items such as the typical cloths of Rajasthan, jewelries, handicrafts, toys, and food. There are entertainment stalls also. Here the people of Rajasthan perform their rich culture and traditions in the form of dance and costumes.
There is a very famous temple of Brahma near the Pushkar Lake; this is the only temple of Lord Brahma in India. People come here to enjoy the fair as well as to visit the renowned temple. People also take holy dips in the Pushkar Lake. This fair is held for about 5 days, where people live their each and every moment of enjoyment.
Another main attraction of this fair is the turban tying competition, bride competition and the moustache competition. People take part in this competition with full enthusiasm and have fun, while performing these competitions.
There is a very colorful view of this fair as this place is crowded and people dress up in the traditional costumes. This view can be seen from the temple. People enjoy every moment of this fair. They collect all the memories of this fair along with them.
