Nag Panchami is festival when snakes are worshiped as being the jewel around the neck of God Mahadeva and it is mainly celebrated in the state of Maharashtra as well as West Bengal and South India. Nagpanchami is one of the main Indian festivals and it is celebrated in Shravan month which comes in July to August and on the fifth day of the moonlit-fortnight.

It is seen worldwide that mankind when acquired some culture since that time they started worshiping 'Sun and Snake' in many countries. It is also observed that the tradition of snake worship is even before the Vedic times in India.

Nag Panchami Festival

In ancient times in India people by the name Nagas were devolved highly with culture even before the Aryans came. After that Naga culture converted into Hinduism and Indo-Aryans accepted the snake deities of the Nagas as their pantheon and placed them in the Hindu God.

In many villages women worship snakes by offerings of milk and rice. It is believed that no one should cook any fried food on this day in Hindu tradition.
