Bithoor is on the distance of just 22 kilometers from Kanpur city in Uttar Pradesh and on the road to Kannauj. It is located on the banks of the Ganga River and so this place is very much closely related with Ramayana. This is one of the reasons why this place is also known as Ramale.

It is believed that Sant Valmiki meditated as well as wrote the Ramayana, great epic here only. It is also referred as the birth place of Rama's twin sons named Luv and Kush. Recently Bithoor was also found associated with Jhansichi Rani Laxmi Bai and Nana Saheb Peshwa, who had done a great job in 1857 war of Indian independence.
