Tiruchirapalli Fort
Tiruchirapalli fort is also known with Tiruchirapalli rock fort. The Tiruchirapalli fort is an ancient hill fort. The fort located in the Tiruchirapalli village in Tamil Nadu. The height of the fort is around 83 meters. Right now this fort is open for public. So, one can visit in any time through out the year. This fort has glorious history. The fort was the witness of the three to four families period. The Madurai Nayak, Hyder Ali was one of them. In 18th century the fort was under the control of Hyder Ali.
Points of Attraction:
There are two to three temples present on the fort. Out of which one temple is at the top of the fort and other is at the foot of the fort. Both of these forts are dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Also there is one another temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. At the base of the fort there is one tank and near to the tank one house and church which was built by Reverend Schwartz of Denmark were placed. There is one palace which is at also at the base of this rock fort. This palace was built by Chokkanatha Nayak. The main guard gate of the fort is at north side of the fort.
How to go there:
The fort is reachable from the Chennai and also from the Hyderabad. Right now the fort is under the control of Government of the Tamil Nadu and hence it is open to all. The fort has many attracting points. Tamil Nadu Government is responsible for the maintenance of the fort.
