Hogenakkal is situated on the Karnataka and Tamilnadu border and it is one of the best places in the Tamil Nadu State. The broad stream of the Kaveri River forks, here forming an island, and the main stream is transferred into narrow path, since where it plunges into a deep chasm, and beautiful waterfalls is generated in the country.
The fine water spray which hits the rocks formed a name Hogenakkal of this place, means smoking rock in Kannada language. The water of the Kaveri River flow through the forest of herbs and bathing in these considered good for health.
Hogenakkal is also one of the trekker's choices in Tamil Nadu State and rugged mountainous tracks are challenging for a trekker.
