Fort St George
Fort St George is located in Tamil Nadu in India. The name of the fort is given by the British, founded in 1639. Fort St. George is located on the banks of Bay of Bengal. Actually this fort was built by East India Company in 1640. This is the fort from where British start to expand their activities. This fort has great historical importance.
Points of Attraction:
There are number of buildings within the fort. The Church, Museum, and the Wellesley house are the attracting buildings in the fort. Out of which church is the oldest Anglican Church. It was built in 1678. The church is known as the 'Westminster Abbey of the East'. The second Museum contains the things of British rule. The construction of building was completed in 1795. And first time this building housed as the office of the Madras Bank. The third building is of Wellesley house. This building has banquet hall. This building has painting of governor and of the other important official publics. The museum has cannon of the Tipu Sultan. Also there is one statue which is 14.5 feet in height. This statue was constructed by Charles Bank in England. The name of this house is from the name of Richard Willlesley.
Way to reach there:
There is no problem to reach there as there are number of buses and private vehicles are available to go there. Today this fort is one important administrative building of the government of Tamil Nadu.
