Tura
Tura is at a distance of 220 kilometers from Guwahati and it is the Headquarter of the West Garo Hills District. Tura is located at the bottom of the jungle clad 1,456 meters Nokrek Peak. This District lie in Tura region and it also provide many beautiful views of the sunset and the River Brahmaputra flowing nearby. Tura Peak is a nice trekking spot as it is 5 kilometer in height and ata distance of just 112 kilometers from this peak is Tura Naphak Lake, a nice place to see.
Balpakram Wildlife Sanctuary
Balpakram Wildlife Sanctuary is at a distance of 167 kilometers from Tura and it lies Balpakram or also known as the perpetual wind's place. The small wildlife reserve in the Balpakram Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located exactly on the border of Meghalaya and Bangladesh. It is most famous for wide variety of animals present here, which have tigers, red panda and wild elephants. Both the Garos and Khasis worship the majestic Balpakram plateau, which is surrounded by steep cliffs.
There are two ranges of mountains namely Arabella and Tura, both of these forms a lavishing Belpakram Reserve Forest with a green valley. It also has the longest caves in India and of length nearly 4722 meters. There is a fine river pass nearby the southeast side of Tura.
Thad Laokein
Thad Laokein as per the ancient myths, this stunning lake was created when the rebel Jaintia king general's 290 members dug it actually. The Rolling Meadows nearby this lake is always suggesting visitors to calm down and relax. It is on the way to Nartiang, ata distnace of 64 kilometer from Shillong.
