Junagarh Fort

Today also, the beauty and gritty of Junagarh fort remains intact. It is due to great maintenance and efforts. The fort has delicately and gracefully carved walls that feels like walls has been made just few days back.

Junagarh fort was made by Raja Rai Singh in 1588 A.D. Raja Rai Singh was one of the trusty generals of the Emperor Akbar.
Next most important thing about the Junagarh is - the fort has been constructed on the lower ground. The fort was never be conquered. As the fort has only 2-gates and 37 bastions, it guards the fort and entrée inside the fort.

Suraj pol (sun Gate) is the major gate/entrance to the Janagarh fort. The fort includes many beautiful palaces, pavilions, courtyard and balconies.

The main attractions of the fort are :

• Anup Palace : It is the most attractive palace inside the fort. Its polishing walls are covered in gold & red colors. The colored glass decorations on the walls seem very striking.
• Badal Palace : The palace has the most excellent paintings decorating its walls. Water is the main theme of these paintings. The best one is Rain Fresco painting having the Radha-Krishna.
• Phool Palace : It is another most beautiful palace inside the fort.
