Uchitgad Fort

Uchitgad (also called Prachitgad) is in Sahyadri mountain range. It is located in Shringarpu, Ratnagiri district. It is spread over an area of four acres. The fort has 5 guns, well and temple.

It also has inner and outer wall. Inner wall is in damaged condition and the outer one is still in good ondition. You can access it only by means of ladder.

How to go there

• To Shringarpur, tourists can go by the bus and afterward by walk for three hrs to reach the Uchitgad.
• It is 21 kilometres from Mumbai - Goa highway close to Sangameshwar.
