Sindhudurg
Sindhudurg fort is in Sindhugurd district of Maharashtra located on konkan coast. The fort was created in 1664 by Shivaji Maharaj. It covers over 48 acres area and its exterior parapet is nearly two miles long.
Sindhugurg is stands on the rocky island, called Kurte, 1 km from Malvan, 510 km from Mumbai and 130 kms from north Goa. Shivaji Maharaj had called 100 Portuguese specialists from Goa to see the construction of this fort. It is also reported that 3K workers were worked rounf a clock for whole three years to construct the fort. The fort construction was handled by Mr. Hiroji Indulkar, an architect.
It is one of the strongests forts of the Great Marathas.
