  • Riwa Fort

    Riwa Fort is also called Rewah Fort, however locally it is called as Kala Killa or Black Fort. It is in the central Mumbai, rests on bank of Mithi River. Currently, Riwa fort is in decaying condition. The fort is made by Mr. Gerald Aungier (1st governor of Mumbai) (1669 to 1677).

    The fort was division of the bigger Mumbai Castle, and denoted the north section of the British – held Mumbai in Seventeenth century. This castle was utilized as the watch tower, protecting the area against Portuguese – won Salsette Island.

  • Prabalgad Fort

    Prabalgad is very huge and strong fort placed in between Panvel and Matheran. It can be viewed from Mumbai – Pune Express highway. The fort was identified as Muranjan. After won by Marathas, it was renamed under Shivaji Maharaj's rule.

    Prabalgad is at a height of 2300 ft.

    How to go there (Prabalgad fort)

    • We reach here from Matheran via Arkas village or otherwise by bypass from a Poinje Fata about six kilometers from Panvel.
    • We can travel by Mumbai local train to a Panvel station. From that point you can hire the autorickshaw to Thakurwadi. It is aroung 19 kms away. It is very small town in foothills of the Prabalad Plateau.
