Manikgad Fort

The Manikgad fort is located in the Chandrapur District. The height of this fort is 507 meters. The fort was built by King Naga in 9th century. Now the condition of this fort is very bad. There are number of tombstones which give proof of history. Local legend holds that the fort was built by a Gond king. And the name of this Gond king is Mankyal. And so the name is Manikgad.

Points of Attraction:

There is one entrance gate. And the gate has Naga image carved in relif. There is no proof of Gond emblem of lion and an elephant so the legend is not true. The fort was built of large black stones. Also there are ramparts walls of the fort and old buildings. The bastion which is at the south side is collapsed with its supporting wall.

If you want to visit this fort then follow the route which as given. First reach Karjat by Local train. From Karjat take a direct bus to Vadgaon (frequency is less), or take a bus to Chowk and then take a six seater to Vadgaon.

Madh Fort

The fort is a small fort located near to the Mumbai. This fort is also called as Versova fort. The fort is at the north side of the Mumbai. The fort was built by Portuguese. The fort is some out of the way and hence difficult to reach. From Malad the fort is about 15 kms. Aksa beach is near to this fort. The main use of this fort was to watch the surrounding area. One can able to see coastline and guards the Marve creek from the top of the fort. Right now this fort is under the control of Indian Air Force. It is require to take permission of Indian Naval base before visit this fort. Due to its beautiful structure, the film such as Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega and Mard has been shot at this location
