Mangi and Tungi Forts

These two forts are twin forts. Both of they are hill forts. These forts are located in the Nasik District. The height of Mangi fort is 4343 feet high above the seaa level. And the height of Tungi fort is 4366 feet. The forts belong to Selberi-Dolberi range. The grade of these forts is easy. These are the pilgrimage places of the Jain people. A grand fair is held here yearly during Kartik (September-October) where people visit in large numbers to observer the impressive rath yatra.

Points of Attraction:

  • Mangi Fort

    If you follow the route of archway, then Mangi Pinnacle is at the left side. From this archway there are caves at the base of Mangi Pinnacle and are on the distance of twenty minutes. The height of Mangi fort is not too big but still it is necessary to taking some precautions while climbing this Mangi fort. There are 356 carvings of Mahavir, Adinath, Parshvanath, Hanuman, Vali, Sugreeva. Also there is a one temple of Mangigiri. Water is available on the fort but it is not clean.

  • Tungi Fort

    Right side route from the archway directly goes towards Tungi Fort. The height of Tungi fort is more than that of the Mangi. Here also require to take some precautions while climb it. There are 3 caves, temple of Tungigiri, and 99 carvings of Buddha are on the top of Tungi fort.

How to reach there:

The simple route to reach at Mangi and Tungi fort is Mumbai - Nasik - Satana - Tahirabad - Mangi Tungi. The Bhilwadi is the base village of these Mangi and Tungi forts. You have required four hours to see these two forts. Also there is one Krishna temple on the route of the Mangi and Tungi fort. One can able to visit this temple also.
