Mahipatgad Fort

The fort is located in the Ratnagiri District. The height of this fort is 3100 feet with easy grade. Dahivali is lies at the base of this fort. The area occupied by fort is around 200 acres. This fort was built by Mahipat. The Khed lies in Khed Taluka near wadi Beladar. Samarth Ramdas had given a visit to Mahipatgad for his unending stay. There is no food facility. One should arrange for self. Water is available in water tanks but it is not pure. Its better to filter with cloth before drinking.

Attracting points are:

On the top of the fort there is temple of Pareshwar and lake in front of the temple. There are five doors which lead to this Mahipatgad fort. The names of these doors are Kotwal, Lal Devdi, Osati, Yeshwant, and Khed darwaja. The name of one door is 'Shiv Ganga' due to stream has originated in front of it. Near to the Khed darwaja there are temples of Lord Hanuman and Ganesha.

The fort is covered with heavy forestation. One can able to see Pratapgad and Makaradgad from the top the Mahipatgad fort. The all entrances of the fort are not in good condition. Also you can able to visit Pareshwar Mahadev Temple.

Route to reach there:

Mahipat is located east of Khed. There are buses and also trains available to reach Khed from Pune. And the frequency of buses is very good. From Khed go to Mahipat and from Mahipat go to Dahivalli. The Dahivali is village which lies at the base of the fort. And from Dahivali the top of the Mahipat fort takes four hours.
