Kamalgad Fort
The fort is located in the Wai range. The fort is about 10 km west of Wai. The height of this fort is about 4511 feet and it is hill type fort. The grade of this fort is medium. One day is sufficient for visiting this fort. There is no problem of water on the fort as there is one water tank on fort which is located near to the temple. The fort divides the head of the Krishna valley. Valki flows from the north side and Krishna from the south and they both meet at the east side of the fort. The history of this fort is unknown. Also the buider of this fort are not known or not mentioned in any book. In the peroid of Marathas the fort was controlled by mokasaddar from Bijapur. This fort also known with other name as 'Kattalgad'. And in the period of British this fort is used as jail. The grade of this fort is medium.
Sightseeing :
This fort is spread up to three to four acres in size. The one way to reach on the top of the fort is by scaling the rock. Also there is another way which is from tunnel but now this way is blocked due to big rock which is fell in to the tunnel. Only one structure on the top of the fort is that the hole which is the remains of a well sunk right through the rock, into the soil below which still has water.
Way to reach there:
If you want to visit this fort then first go to Pune then from Pune catch the bus of Wai. Then go to Asre village. Then there is one easy way which leads to the top of the fort.
