Ganpatipule has many nice beaches with the sparkling blue water, golden or silver sand on the bank, waves playing with the sand dunes and sun beams dancing through the swaying palms, and one can enjoy all these with a cool whispering of breeze here. It is the best place to visit and named after Lord Ganesha as Ganpatipule, Maharashtra's one of the less crowded beach.
It has main attraction for the Hindu religion tourists is about 4000 year old Swayambhu Ganpati Temple (Swayambhu means a self-originated idol of Lord Ganesha), nestled in the greenery. This temple is full of thousands of devotees and tourists each year and especially in summer holidays.
Ganpatipule the word itself means the lord of the 'ganas' or army and 'pule' means sand dunes. This is also the holy place as it is one of the Ashta Ganapatis, eight Ganpatis in India and it is named as 'Paschim Dwar Dewata', Western Sentinel God.
Ganapatipule is actually a small village and calm, dignified and unspoilt. This beach is very natural and ever pristine. One can enjoy the road journey as a most beautiful travelling experience in life. It is surrounded by the large Konkan stretch and flourished with picturesque greenery.
There are thin mud -roads, the earth is red and the covered homes with fresh courtyard add a old-fashioned feel to the landscape. The general vegetation here has mainly fruit-bearing trees and some of these are betel nut, banana, mango, jackfruit, coconut and many more.
The whole western shore is roofed with all such types of trees. The locals are as cool and jolly as their surroundings. Always ready to talk with the tourists and let them feel like they are at their native place only.
The god-fearing local followers take a Pradakshin, totally around the hill, where the temple is positioned, and not just around the temple of Ganesha. Pradakshina is a simple form of showing obeisance. The devotees walk in a circle around the idol of the Lord or around the whole temple.
Malgund
Malgund is famous Marathi poet Keshavsut's birthplace and it is at a distance of just 1 kilometer from Ganpatipule, a cool beach in Maharashtra. One who loves poem can surely visit the house of this great poet but now days it is a students' hostel. One can also visit a beautiful monument known with a name of Keshavsut Smarak.
Pawas
Pawas is a very natural as well as beautiful and peaceful place and it is well-known for the ashram of Swami Swaroopanand, who is a religious leader who influenced the entire generation of Maharashtrians.
Jaigad Fort
Jaigad Fort is located on the high and proud on a cliff with a stunning sight of the ocean. This fort is at the entrance of the Sangameshwar River. It is at a distance of 35 kilometers from Ganpatipule, a cool and peaceful beach in Maharashtra.
There is a jetty harbor is located close to the fort and also a light house is seen nearby it. Though the fort is in ruins, still the external wall and the earthwork can be seen. The fort side is fences with deep fosse and which is not towards the cliff edge. But on the east side reinforcement is not seen.
