Durgadi and Kandhar Forts

  • Durgadi Fort

    This fort is located in the Kalyan, Thane District. On the top of the fort there is temple of Durgadi Devi. The Durgadi, Haji Malang is a pilgrim center for Hindus and Muslims.The fort was built in the period of Mauryan dynasty. Also there is one Samadhi and hence all visitor especially Hindu visitors visit this Durgadi fort.

    No problem to reach there as there are number of buses is available from Kalyan to the foothill of Malanggad. Nearest railway station is Kalyan and Mumbai is the nearest airport.

  • Kandhar Fort

    The Kandhar fort is in the Nanded District. The fort lies in the Kandhar village. The fort is surrounded by channel of the water. The fort was built by Rashtrakuta King Krishna III of Malkhed who styled himself as Kandharpuradhi Swar. The remains of this splendid and historic fort are located at a distance of fifty km from the Ranthambhore National Park.

    There is old Idgah held in reverence by the Muslims which is at some distance from this Kandhar fort. If you want to visit this fort then go to Nanded from there number of buses are available to Kandhar.
