  • Devgad Fort

    Devgad Fort Picture 01 The Devgad fort is in the Devgad village in Sindhudurg District of Maharashtra. The name of the village is due to this historical fort name. The fort is tollaly surrounded by the water.

    As the fort is totally surrounded by water this fort is also called as 'Jajire Devgad'. The janzira means island in Arabic. After the period of shivaji Maharaj that is in 1705 the fort is captured chief of Martha admiralty that is Kanoji Angre. The fort is natural port.

    The area of the total fort is about 120 acres. Also there is temple of Lord Ganesha. There is no problem of the other things. The port office is situated on the fort. And also light house is situated on the top of the fort. One important thing about this fort is that as this fort is totally lies in the water still the walls and the structures of this fort are still intact and in good condition. Due to its natural beauty and its strong ness everyone feels proud for this fort.

    How to go there:

    First go to Sindhudurg then from there go to Devgad which is not far away from Sindhudurg. Also there is the plateu of windmills. Actually this windmills are not in working conditions. Also one can able to see beautiful sunset.

  • Dhak (Bahiri / Bhaihari) Fort

    This fort is lies in the Raigad Distric. The height of this fort is 2300 feet and the it is hill cave type fort. The one day is sufficient to visit this fort. There is no problem of shelter as there are caves available on the top of the fort. The Sandshi is village which is lies at the base of the fort. Also there is no problem of water as there are water cisterns are available on the top of the fort.

    Best visit time is from October to April. The grade of this fort is hard. There are a spacious cave with ample water is really a surprise. Also there is Bhairoba temple on the top of the fort.

    How to go there:

    First go to the Kalyan. As Mumbai is well connected to all important cities there is no problem to reach at Kalyan. Then from Kalyan go to Karjat. There are two option to go Karjat that is by bus or by train. Then you are not away from your visiting place then just catch a bus of Sandshi and go to on the top of the fort. The distance between Karjat and Sandshi is 20 km.
