Bhupatgad (Bhopatgad) and Birwadi Forts

  • Bhupatgad (Bhopatgad) Fort

    The Bhupatgad (Bhopatgad) fort is located in the Thane District. The height of the fort is 1600 feet. It lies in the Bhupat range. The grade of the fort is easy. It is hill fort and located in Jawhar Taluka. If you are thinking about accommodation then there is no accommodation facility. Also there is no water facility. And food is directly available in the Jawhar Taluka.

    Points of Attraction:

    The Bhupatgad fort has two doors out of which one is from north and second one is from south. Both doors are not in well condition. If you enter into the fort then there are two statues. One is Mahsobas and other is of Hanumanta. Actually whole fort is in the bad state. One can able to see other places from fort such as Tringalwadi, Harihar etc.

    How to go there:

    First go to Mumbai then from Mumbai go to Jawhar. Then there is one village named as Zapp which is 17 km away from Jawhar. 1 km before Zapp there is way to Chinchwadi. To reach at the foothill you have require at least one and half hour.

  • Birwadi Fort

    The Birwadi fort is located in Birwadi village. The fort was built by Shivaji Maharaj. The aim of this fort is to improve the defence of Raigad fort. The fort located 11 kms away from Mahad and the road of Bhor. The grade of this fort is easy.

    Way to reach there:

    The route for Birwadi is simple. First go to Pune then from Pune take bus which goes towards Mahad and then lastly go onwards to Bhor. There is 11 kms from here to on to the top of the fort.
