Aundha and Antur Forts

  • Aundha Fort

    Aundha fort is located in Nasik District. The height of fort is about 4400 feet and it is in the range of Kalsubai. In case of grade this fort is very difficult for trekking. The history of this fort is that, till 1688 this fort was under the control of Maratha After that the fort was captured by Mughal and appointed Shyamsingh as head of the fort.

    Attracting points on the fort are:

    This fort is just like pineapple due to its structure shape. The fort is small on the top side so it looks like pineapple. The source of water on fort is from one cave. From this you can able to see Alang, Madan, Kulang, Kalsubai, and surrounding area of the fort. There is one huge rock at the entrance which having curved in shape.

    How to go there:

    Go to Igatpuri through Mumbai route. Then from Igatpuri go to Bhagur with the help of bus which is at 7 a.m. and then get down at Kadva Colony Naka. For that you have to require one and half hour. Then go to Nivavi village after half and hour. And finally go on top of the fort with the help of steps.

    Also this fort is famous for the trekking. Many trekkers visit the Aundha - Patta - Bitangad in one as they are near to each other

  • Antur Fort

    Antur fort is located in Chimanpur in Aurangabad District. The height of fort is about 2700 ft and the fort is 50 km from Aurangabad. According to history the fort was built by Marathas in the century of 15th . The points of attraction on the fort are the fortification remains, and also there is doorways and dargah with shape of arched structure. Also there is one inscription which gives information about the Mughal Badshah Nizamshan.

    How to go there:

    As Aurangabad is connected through by both that are trains and buses with main cities so, there is no problem to reach Aurangabad. But from Aurangabad it is required to you to cover 50 km distance to reach Antur fort.
