Akola Fort
Akola fort (also called Asadgad or Asagad) was used to be flagship of Akola district in the past. The several inscriptions found on the forts depict the interesting history of the fort. Dahi Handa gate inscription provide the information that in 1114 AH or 1697 CE, minister Nawab Asad Khan was in-charge of the fort under reign of Moghul Samrat Aurangjeb. The other Fatepur Buruj tells the same minister under Shah Alam. Marathi inscription on Agarves Gate describe that Govind Appaji built the fort in 1843.
The History :
At the start it was only a mud wall for the protection of village built by Akol Singh. But once witnessing the auspicious sign of hare chasing a dog, drive him to build the fort. In 1697, the fort was under Aurangjeb's reign with Asad Khan taking care of that province was the reason of its name as Asadgad. British Raj dismantled the fort in 1870.
Jafarabad Fort, Teliyagad Fort and Akot Fort are adjacent to the Akola fort.
Balapur Fort
Nesteled in Akola distrcict, The Balapur fort is the excellent monument built with bricks. Two rivers Mana and Mhais on the both sides of the fort enhance the beauty of the place. It is only one km away from the Balapur town.

- Akola is 139 miles or 223 km away from the Nagpur. All kind of transportations train, bus and aero plane are there to ease the traveling.
