Ajinkyatara Fort
Ajinkyatara is the one the best fort from Satara district. The palaces such as two entrances of the fort, Mangalai, Hanuman and Shiva temples, Tararani Palace, Lakes near entrance, Beautiful view of Satara City, Sanjjangad and other forts, Parali area are famous spot on this fort.
The history of this fort is that, the fort was built by Bhojraj second of Panhala between 1178 to 1193. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj took control of this fort from Adilshah of Vijapur in 1673. After that Aurangjeb took control on fort between 1700 and 1706.

From Pune the fort is at 115 km and from Mumbai it is 285 km. If you want travel with bus then buses for Satara are available from Pune, Mumbai, and also from Kolhapur. For train, as Satara railway station is a important and connected by all stations of important cities. The airport which is near to it is Pune and Kolhapur.
