Ahmednagar Fort
Ahmednagar fort is one of the famous fort in Maharashtra. It is also counted amongst the impregnable forts of India. The history about Ahmednagar fort is that the fort was built by Ahmed Nizamshah in 1490. Eighteen meter high walls supported by twenty- two bastions are the main feature of this fort.
In the year of 1942, the Indian freedom fighters such as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Azad were jailed in this fort. The fort is lies at 1 km on the east of Ahmednagar.
If you want to visit this fort then come to Pune airport and from there it is just 120 km. The fort is approximately 140 km from Nashik.
Now this Ahmednagar Fort is under the control of the military command of India.
Belapur Fort
Belapur fort is located at Belapur town which is in Navi Mumbai. The fort was built by Siddis of Janjira in 1570. After that the fort was captured by Portuguese. In 1733, the fort was gone under the control of Chimanji Appa. After victory the fort was christened as Belapur Fort. In 1817, the fort again captured by Captain Charles Gray of the British East India Company.
The most important thing about this fort is that, the fort stationed into four companies each company having 180 men, 14 guns which are ranging from four to fourteen pounds in weight.
How to go there:
As the fort is located near to Mumbai so there is no problem to reach there. The fort is lies in the Belapur town which is not far away from Mumbai. You have two options
