Ahiwantgad Fort
The fort is in the Nasik District. The height of this fort is around 1223 meters. Daregaon is at the base of this fort. In the period of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the fort was under the control of Mughals. After some time Shivaji Maharaj won this fort from Mughals. Points of Atraction:
The fort has some attracting points. There is one eight angled water tank on the top of the fort. Actually it is a Kund. This Kund contains water through out the year. The way from Achala fort is directly reach on this fort. There is one well constructed lake. There are two idols, out of which one is of Devi with ten hands (Dashbhuja Devi) and other is of Hanuman. Besides that there are only remains of some old buildings.
How to reach there:
The Daregaon is on the Vani Nanduri road. This Vani village is famous for the Vani Devi which is situated on the top of the fort. One can visit this place also as it in on the way. This Daregaon is near to this Vani. There is one Maruti temple in the village. The fort's architecture is a half circle. There are two routes to go on fort, out of which one is from the north side and other is from the south side. North side route take one and a half hour to reach on the top of the fort. There is one cave on this route which is slightly downwards lies. This is best option to stay. There are two parts in the cave. To reach on the top of the fort it is require you to climb forty well constructed steps. Then after crossing remains there is one door which leads to the top of the fort.
