Tourist places in Varkala, Kerala
STD Code - 0472

This is one of the nice place to visit in the Kerala State. Varkala is full of seaside resort and spa. It is also one of the well known Hindu pilgrimage center in this state. One can always enjoy the cliffs with surprisingly rich mineral springs rising from the coastline.

Varkala beach looks like the Kovalam beach only and so one can think about visiting same type of place again, in first visit. Inappropriate resources for travel and tourism already made this place inappropriate for visitors, but now many new hotels are starting business there.

One of the most enjoyable seen is the 'Arabian Sea sunset' from cliff-top. Papanasham beach is very nice place for taking sunbaths. In this small town at a very short distance is the attractive south Kerala style Janardhanaswamy temple.

This temple is 2000 year old and there is one Nature Care Centre, the two main attractions for visitors. This temple is of Lord Vishnu primarily, but Saivite shrines are there at outside of main precinct. Here Arattu festival is celebrated in the month of March and April, when thousands of pilgrims visit this place.
