Sabrimala is at a distance of 72 kilometers from Pathanamthitta town and at a distance of 191 kilometers from Thiruvanathapuram and it at a distance of 210 kilometers from Kochi. It is very famous and most respected pilgrim centers in nation.
Sabrimala is located on the mountain ranges of the Western Ghats and it is at an altitude of 914 meters above sea level. It is accessible only by foot. There is a temple and it is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa.
Pilgrim Temple Season
Here in the month of November to mid January every year the temple season is celebrated. Mandalapooja and Makaravilakku are main two events in this pilgrim season. The temple gets closed in the rest of the whole year, except first five days of Malavalam month during the month of April.
It is believed that only Hindus are allowed inside the temple and entry to women in-between 10 and 50 years of age is also not allowed here.
It has Thiruvalia at a distance of 102 kilometers as a nearest railway station.
