Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Thekkady
Periyar is on the south side of India and it is one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries. It is also the most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries all over world. Thekkady is known for the wildlife and natural beauty. There are some Periyar Tiger Reserve attracts visitors and travelers from the all world.
It is spread over an area of 777 squareuare kilometers, with 26 square kilometers lake formed by the Idukki Dam built on the Periyar River. The lake is having boating facility. Many people know that this place is home to antelopes, bison, sambar, wild boar, langur, elephants as well as tigers.
The mountain scenery seen by visitors while travelling to this place and the lake cruise with jungle walk makes the trip more enjoyable.
It is the only sanctuary in whole India famous for wild elephants and can be seen from the safety of a boat. Many people enjoy the wildlife in the reserve by the boat cruise on the lake. Entry her is restricted from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm every day.
