These are the remains of the capital of Ganga and succession of all it's rulers ruled this area in-between 4th and 5th centuries. This temple was built on the banks of Kavery and it got buried in the sand.
This historical city has partially buried temple that still viewed in every 12 years after digging for the Panchalinga Darshan.
There are beautiful waterfalls in Sivasamudram and these are very nice to visit as they are produced from the river Kavery after dropping 25 kilometers downstream from 50 meters height.
