Srirangapatnam is located on the road to Bangalore at a distance of 16 kilometers from Mysore city. Here one can find the ruins of Tipu Sultan's capital, from thsi place he ruled the most Southern India in the 18th century. In the year 1799 this place fell into the British hands with the help of some cross local leaders.

It is situated on the long island in the Kavery and it is unforgettable capital with the fortress named 'Daria Daulat Bagh' and the largely decorated interior, which houses museum. This museum now houses collection of family memories and some paintings, which depicts Tipu's campaigns against the British Government.

Mosque and temple of Sri Ranganathaswamy is also seen here inside the fortress walls. The tomb of Tipu and Hyder Ali is just 2 kilometers away from this place.
