Somnathpur is the village in Karnataka state and it has Keshava Temple on the edge of this village. It is located 33 kilometers on the east side of Mysore city. It is believed that this temple is built back to 1260 AD by Hoysala Kings.
It is a star shaped temple and very nice example of that day architecture. It has walls covered with superb stone sculptures and on it scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavat Gita and the life and times of the Hoysala kings are depicted.
One can get this place very easily by road as well as the accommodation is available here in the hotel Mayura Keshav, located just outside the temple.
