Gajendragarh Fort
Gajendragarh is located near to the Gadag. The distance between Gadag and the fort is around 40 km. The history about this fort is that the fort was built by Shivaji Maharaj. Also after some time the fort was fortified by Shivaji Maharaj. The fort has number of attracting points. The fort is surrounded by Western Chalukya. The fort is witness of the war which was held between Tipu Sultan, Marathas, and Nizam. But Tipu Sultan proved him superior.
Points of Attraction:
There are number of places which surround this fort and are at the Aihole, Pattadakal, Kudalasangama. The fort is also famous for one temple and the name of the temple is Kalakaleswara. One another attraction point near to this fort is that the market. And this market is famous for the dress materials for marriage and also for festivals. The temple of Kakakaleswara is famous due to its structure. Actually this temple is curved in to one big mountain. This temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. On the opposite side of this temple on the top of hill there are number of wind mills.
How to reach there:
The Gadag town is one of the famous towns and is well connected to other cities. So, there is no problem to reach there. Besides that, there are number of tourist places near to this fort. The places are Banashankari, Kuknur, Itagi Bhimamabika etc. Out of these Bhimambika is around 13 km away from this Gajendragarh fort.
