Chikmagalur has major coffee growing areas in India. It is nestled in the Baba Budan hills and serene town full of scenic hills, streams, valleys and waterfalls with the coffee blossom. Chikmagalur means the younger daughter's town.
At a distance of just 251 kilometers from Bangalore on the way to the west side, Chikmagalur is also a trekker's delight. Chikmagalur has temple of the Kodandarama and moated fort, St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cathedral, and also few mosques.
This district is with the huge number of mountains and has curing works for the processing of raw coffee. In the month of March and April, it is the main coffee flowering season.
