Bandipur National Park is set by the Mysore Maharaja in the year 1931. It is at a distance of 80 kilometers from Mysore and on the way to Ooty in Tamilnadu state. It is very nice and beautiful wildlife sanctuary, which covers area of 865 square kilometers.

It is a part of neighbouring state wild life sanctuaries namely Mudumalai in Tamilnadu state and Waynad in Kerala state. Bandipur is procted by World Wide Fund for nature. Besides Tigers, visitors can have bison, spotted deer, elephant, sambar, sloth bears and langurs to see. Elephant rides near this park are available on the regular transport also.

Bush Betta is a private resort at a distance of 4 kilometers from Bandipur and Tusker Trail Resort near Mangala Village are the convenient places for accommodation. It is easily reached by road as buses to Ooty all stops here.
