Hissar is 160 kilometers from Delhi.
It was founded by Firuz Shah Tughlaq, while he was in need of constructing a canal for bringing water to his hunting ground in the year 1354. It is one of the largest districts in the Haryana State. This place is a fort town and it is the birthplace of Shershah Suri. There is one Gurjari Mahal located in the old fort and it is built from the remains of a Jain temple.
It have historical monuments like minarets of Jama Masjid, Ferozshah palace, Banolshan's Mosque, the tomb of Chalis Hafiz, the summerhouse outside the fort. The most famous 'Ashokan pillar' is also situated here.
