- Ankottaka
Ankottaka means modern Akota and it was famous for Jain studies of 5th century AD. There are the metallic images recovered from here, on the western boundary of modern Vadodara, represent the great antiquity of Akota. The horde of Jain bronzes is the interesting to study for those who love metallic art. It is related to the development of metal technology in Gupta's, post-Gupta as well as the medieval period.
This horde is saved by Shri U.R Shah from disappearing by taking the ownership of it as well as protecting it. Then after he forwarded these to the M.S. University. Then the university actually transferred it into the Vadodaran Museum. There are in total 68 images recovered so far and 'Akota Bronzes', Shah's monograph describes them separately.
- Dabhoi
Dabhoi is originally known as Darbhavati and it is the ancient town and it was believed that this town was established in the 6th century AD. Patan King L Siddhraj built fort here in the 12th century. The fort was built in architectural style and it resemble with Rudramala at Siddhpur. This flourishing town also has the Jain temple and a temple of Lord Shiva as additional reasons to visit this place.
There is a 3-storey Kalika Mata Temple and it is well known for the beautiful sculptures and wood carvings inside it. There are many Jain temples with nice architectural beauty, and one of them is Adinath Shraman Samadhi Stupa with footprints of Shri Adinath.
Dabhoi represents the Hindu Gujarati architectural style so nicely that it is known as birthplace of these styles. It is located at a distance of 34 kilometers from Vadodara and can be visited by buses or Railways.
- Sankheda
Sankheda is at a distance of 20 kilometers from east side of Dabhoi and off the Indore road. It is well known for the colorful lacquered wood furniture with the different style and these are sold in separate sections, after purchasing one can assembled into set of chairs, tables or small temples.
This town is also famous for the lacquer work on wooden articles with beautiful age-old handicraft and furniture like sofa-sets, cradles and chairs etc. The polish and colour of this handicraft are so fascinating that you will get automatically attracting towards it, but it is long-lasting as well. These crafts are sold in national as well as international markets.
- Pavagadh
Pavagadh is the strongest hill fortress and so well known in ancient Gujarat. The hill there is spread over area of 42 kilometers in circumference. It is at a distance of 4 kilometers from southwest of Champaner. This place is dominated by skyline and one can see it easily for miles around it. Pavagadh was also believed as a part of the Himalaya, but carried off by the Lord Hanuman.
There is a Kalika Mata's temple on the highest peak and the distance form foot of the hill to temple is nearly 5 kilometers. It occupied a vast area and it rises in three separate stages; as the ruined fort, then as a palace and then as a middle fort and finally as a upper fort with Jain and Hindu temples, the temples are now important places of pilgrimage of Hindu and Jain respectively.
Above the cliffs, on top of slope follows a fortification line which end in a building known as Sat Mahal. Sat Mahal means seven storied palaces. There is Sadanshah Gate nearby from Sat Mahal and it is Rajput military structure of Pavgadh.
