Church of the Holy Spirit
Church of the Holy Spirit is the impressive building and classic Goan fagade over there takes over the Old Market square. This place is bordered by a many fine town homes. At first it was built in the year 1564 over the Hindu temple ruins and in the year 1589 it was sacked by Muslims. Again it was reconstructed in the year 1675.
On the north wall there is an extraordinary platform, which has carvings of the Apostles on it. The carved reeds on it are flanked by gold columns and three images of Baroque style are there in the center.
Shri Navdurga Saunsthan
Shri Navdurga Saunsthan is at Borim and at a distance of 34 kilometers away from Panaji, and at a distance of 12 kilometers from Margao. It is the deity of Goddess Navdurga and Brahmins of Karad originally brought it to Goa. Then in later days the deity was transferred to its present site at Borim from Benaulim in Salcete.
Shri Damodar
Shri Damodar temple is at Zamabaulim-Sanguem and at a distance of 22 kilometer from Margao. It is located on the river Kushavati banks and it is popularly known with a name Panti. This river is worshiped as regarded holy and also it is believed that the river is having the medicinal properties.
The God which was originally in Margao, was worshiped by both the Christians as well as Hindus. There is a celebration of seven days of Shigmo and this celebration is crowded with programs, the programs basically contains the exchange of gulal, communal meals, colourful fair and stage shows based on the popular myths from folk background.
Shri Datta Mandir
Shri Datta Mandir is at Dattawadi and it is at a distance of 37 kilometer from Sanquelim, and at a distance of 40 kilometer from Margao. It is the century old temple of Trimurthy and it has a background of a good-looking hillock and it is enclosed with thick groves of areca palms.
The main significant event celebrated here and which is attended by many followers from Goa, is Datta Jayanti. This festival comes in the month of December every year. The people also believe that this god have cured many people of unstable mind. The total internal portion of this temple is made up of the white marble.
Shri Mallikarjuna
Shri Mallikarjuna temple is at Canacona and it is at a distance of 40 kilometer from Margao, it is the most southern Taluka in Goa. It is also believed that the temple was constructed in the 16th century middle by the ancestors of the Kshatriya Samaj.
In the year 1778 this temple was repaired. This temple has huge wooden column with elaborate carvings on it. Here around 60 gods are worshipped in the same temple. In the month of February festival named Rathasaptami and in the month of March or April the event called Shigmotsav are mainly celebrated and these events draw lots of crowd to this temple during these days.
