Neil island
Neil island is populated by the Bengali settlers and it is at a distance of 40 kilometer on the north and east side of the South Andaman Island. One can find excellent snorkeling here still some coral is damaged just because of the explosive used while fishing in this area. This is very beautiful island in that area.
Ross Island
Ross Island is the weird despondent area and it was the administrative headquarter in past of the British. It is located at a distance of 2 kilometers only from the east side of the South Andaman Island.
It has a daily newspaper here with a name 'Paris of the East'. On the other hand there were gardens as well as impressive ballrooms destroyed in an earthquake in the year l941. It was one of the places of British power in those days.
It was a capital of the islands and now days it looks like a destroyed old structure and it is seen now roughly in remains only. There is a boat service for this island and it is available since Phoenix Bay Jetty towards the South Andaman Island. The boat service is open everyday except Wednesday and the timing is from 8 am to 2 pm.
Viper Island
Viper Island is located near Haddo Wharf and it is at the start of South Andaman Island port. Before the Cellular Jail was built, here criminals were used to lock up with its scaffold. There is a pathway which is leading towards the remains of the brick jail and the scaffold which were built by the British in the year 1867.
One can see the highlight of the absolute horror view of the place from this scaffold. This place is named as Viper, but it has nothing to do with the snakes and it has got that name in the 19th century form the British trading ship that was ruined nearby.
Indian nationals can apply to visit Dugong Creek where Onges have been reformed in wooden huts. When the Japanese entered WWII, after six months British transferred the Headquarter to South Andaman Island from here. There is a total control of navy in Ross Island and every visitor has to sign in at the time of arrival at this place.
There is a museum nearby this jetty and it displays the wealth and depravity of a past time. It was a prison once and now day sit is a enjoyable picnic place.
National park
Wandoor is located at a distance of 30 kilometer from the South Andaman Island and it is a perfect spot for picnic and also this place is declared as National Marine Park. One can also visit the Andaman Scuba Diving Society based here.
There is a Mahatma Gandhi National Marine Park at the Wandoor and it is covering an area of 280 square kilometer and it is having 15 islands in it totally. There is a varied landscape which includes the mangrove creeks as well as the tropical forest.
Shippighat Farm
Shippighat Farm is a government farm and it is extended in an area of more than 80 acres and it is also used for the R and D of some spices like coconut, cloves, nutmeg and the cinnamon.
