Chamba hills are the most beautiful hill station in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Apart from the scenic beauty it is also famous for the ancient temples. Chamba hills were established by the raja Varman who named these hills after his darling daughter Champavati. This small town is in the Shivalik ranges and popular for its temple.

The temple of Chamba provides the supreme architectural of the Indian sculpture. This is also known as the town of temples and falls between two mountain ridges. This is one of the most attractive and delightful hills of India. There are some stunning views of the sunset and sunrise from the top of the hills, the vista of the sky and the hill changes as the shades of the sun changes. This place is crowded with tourists, natural lovers and people who are very fond of sports adventures.

Tourist can enjoy the view of the threes snow ranges of the snow-covered Himalayas such as the Zanskar ranges, the Pir Panjal ranges and the Dhauladhar ranges. This area is covered with dense forest, flowers and water falls through out the year.

Tourists who enjoy sport adventures can have a great time in trekking, mountain climbing, river rafting and paragliding. There are trained persons to guide us for a safety ride.

Chamunda Devi temple:

It is located just 1 kilometer away from Chaugan; there is an ancient temple of Mata Chamunda. This place is to be found on the left back of the Ravi River.

Laxmi narayan temple:

This temple was built in the 10th century AD by Raj Varman in Shikhara style. There is mandapa like construction in the temple. This is the most popular tourist attraction destination of the visitors. This temple has 6 temples in one temple dedicated to lord Vishnu and lord Shiva. From these three are dedicated to lord Shiva and remaining three to Lord Vishnu.

Brajeshwar Devi temple:

Brajeshwar Devi temple is dedicated to goddess Durga. This temple is well-known for the superior sculptures carved on the walls. The one unique thing about this temple is that it has wooden amalaka on the top and the Shikhara style.

There are quite few ranges of resorts and hotel available in Chamba hills that to are full in the peak season. There are hotels and resorts ranging from luxury class to economic class.

By Air
Nearest airport is the Kangra airport which is about 180 kilometers away from Chamba hills. There are taxis and buses from airport to destination.

By Rail
Nearest railway station is the Pathankot station which is about 122 kilometers away from Chamba hills. There are taxis and buses available from station to destination.

By Road
Chamba is connected by road to Delhi , which is about 580 k.m . It is 24 k.m from Khajjiar and 56 k.m from Dalhousie . Taxis/Buses are available from these places.

Best time to visit Chamba hills is from May to October as during this period the weather is pleasant.

Festivals :

The Minjar Festival is held each year in late July / early August. The Sui Festival is held in March / April. Sui Mata was a Chamba princess who gave her life for her people. Besides these all other major Indian festivals are also celebrated with great enthusiasm .
