It is situated next to Bay of Bengal, the oldest cities in India to the eastern coastal side. - Rath yatra:
Puri beach is the place where there are more than 24 festivals celebrated round the year. Out of these 24 festivals the most popular festival is the Rath yatra or the chariot festival. This festival takes place in the months of June and July, here a 16 wheeled, 45 ft huge Rath is pulled by the worshippers which are more than 4ooo in number.
- Shri Jagannath temple:
Jagannath temple is the home place for the lord jagannath. This splendid temple is built on the stone thrown by the sea in the 12th century. This is the main attraction of the Puri beach as it holds the four most important pilgrimage destinations of India.
- Swargadwar:
This is spot on the beach to the south of the jagannath temple, Swargadwar means gateway to heaven where the devotees take a dip in the sea. The pilgrims believe that all their sins will be washed out here.
