Miramar Beach
Miramar,a lovely golden beach of soft sand girdled with palm trees facing the blue Arabian Sea is almost an extention of Panaji. It is one of the most popular beaches in Goa and was earlier known as the Gaspar Dias beach.
'Miramar',in Portuguese, means 'viewing the sea'. An ideal place to stroll in the evenings, the coast is 2 km long and boasts of fine, soft white sands that sparkle in the moonlight. It also offers a captivating view of the well-preserved Portuguese fort across the river, known as Aguada fort. Not much crowded,it offers the quietness and the much-desired solitude for those who want few moments of life away from the humdrum of the city.
Miramar is an urban beach where the Mandovi River meets the Arabian Sea. Therefore it is not a safe beach to swim due to strong undercurrents.
If you wish to watch the sunset from Panaji then the best location would be this beach, which is fifteen minutes' walk along the riverfront avenue called Dayanand Bandodker Marg.
Some other magnificient beaches in India provide the most tempting combination of sun, sand, sea and surf that is too hard to resist for any beach lover and water sport adventurer.
